BMW X1 Latest Updates
BMW has finally unveiled its long-awaited 2020 X1 in international markets. The 2020 X1 sports a host of cosmetic enhancements along with new colour schemes and interior updates.
On the outside, the X1 gets subtle cosmetic enhancements. The changes include a larger kidney grille, updated LED headlights, fog lamps, redesigned tail lights and larger diameter tailpipes. A new tidbit on the X1 is the addition of a two-tone LED on the driver’s side exterior mirror that projects the SUV’s name when the car is unlocked. The new X1 also gets four new wheel designs with 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheels on offer. The X1 gets three new colour options : Storm Bay Metallic, Jucaro Beige and Misano Blue Metallic.
The interiors have remained fairly similar, only getting subtle cosmetic changes. Changes include contrast stitched floor mats and three new upholstery options. Along with its 6.5-inch touchscreen, the new X1 now offers a larger 8.8-inch and a 10.25-inch touchscreen display as options .The centre display consists of digital features like the BMW Connected Drive along with a navigation system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Under the hood, the X1 retains its twin-turbo 1.5-litre diesel, 2.0-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre petrol engines from its predecessor. These engines are mated to a 7-speed DCT for the sDrive16d or an 8-speed steptronic transmission.
BMW has also debuted a new hybrid variant of the X1 called the xDrive25e.The hybrid powertrain consists of a 126PS/220Nm twin-turbo petrol engine paired with a 96PS/165Nm electric motor. The hybrid variant is set to be offered in most international markets beginning March 2020.
Word is awaited from the company on when the new X1 will be launched in Indian markets and if they will consider launching the hybrid variant considering the implementation of stricter BSVI norms in 2020. Stay tuned to ZigWheels for up to date news on the BMW X1 facelift.
The pre-facelift BMW X1 in India is currently priced from Rs 35.20 lakh to Rs 45.70 lakh and is available with both petrol and diesel engines. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that develops 191PS of power and 280Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic, that sends the power to the front wheels. Notably, the petrol X1 is available in a single ‘xLine’ variant and with front-wheel-drive only. Highlights of the xLine include all-LED headlamps, dual-zone climate control, electric seats, 18-inch alloy wheels and six airbags.
In order to take on the likes of Audi Q3 and Mercedes Benz GLA class, BMW has offered X1 to the Indian buyers in the price range of Rs 32.4-42.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This compact SUV has all the makings of a winner and comes with typical BMW kidney grill, sharp headlamps, sporty roof rails, and dynamic rear. Inside the cabin, the quality of the materials is quite likeable and the rear bench is spacious enough to carry 3 occupants in comfort. The X1 has boot capacity rated at 420-liter. Under the Hood, BMW has offered X1 with two engine choices- 190bhp 2.0-liter diesel engine and 191bhp 2.0-liter petrol motor, both mated to 8-speed automatic transmission. The Dynamics of BMW X1 can easily be considered as the segment benchmark; especially the handling prowess of this SUV is far more accomplished than its rivals like Audi and Mercedes.

BMW X1 prices start at Rs. 38.30 lakh for petrol and goes upto Rs. 38.30 lakh. The prices of X1 diesel variants start at Rs. 35.20 lakh and the top-end diesel is priced at Rs. 45.70 lakh. BMW X1 is available in 5 variants and 6 colours.
